We are welcoming author Lavanya Lakshminarayan today at 12pm SLT. Her debut novel “Analog/Virtual: And Other Simulations of Your Future” has a title that can’t be more yummy for our esteemed core audience of longtime SL resident avatars but we are convinced that a decisively Indian take on VR, Cyber, CliFi and other SpecFic will lure a lot of newbie folks into book club island as well.

Lavanya’s take on the “meritocratic” delusion peddled by neoliberalism is superb, as deep as it is hilarious, and it needs to be shelved alongside Stephenson’s “Snow Crash” , perhaps even literary fiction such as Gary Shteyngart’s “Absurdistan” and some classic Vonnegut as well.

Alsa, we are tired of the same old Western take on these themes are we not? Thank the lords of virtuality, we can broaden the spectrum ….
