Drax here: I am incredibly psyched over the fact that (finally!) one Sergio De La Pava is coming on the show.

Sergio is a public defender in New York City and author of 3 books.

I own them all, but “A Naked Singularity” is the one I am re-reading for preparation of this program. Sorry: always under time constraints, so 2 doorstoppers per week + a shorter one … just not in the cards.

The book was a self-publishing sensation back in 2008, in my humble opinion it most definitely belongs among other maximalist novels such as “Infinite Jest” and perhaps some Pynchon.

An indictment of the criminal justice system, an insane heist, reality collapsing all around, a fun, smart, sad, deep story centered around a young first-generation American with Colombian roots: one of my top ten novels of all time.

Anyways: I might even watch the movie based on the book that apparently was made last year. And I usually avoid movies that threaten to “destroy” the book worlds I build in my head …
